Ormond College

Heritage

  • Substrate: Fibrous plaster
  • Fire Rating: 60/60/60
  • Ormond College is a beautiful historic building and is the largest residential college of the University of Melbourne. It is home to 332 undergraduates, 34 graduates and 27 professorial and academic residents. The conservation plan required the fire rating of many of the original historic fibrous plaster ceilings to achieve a Fire Resistance Level of 60/60/60
  • The CAP508 system was applied to cornices, ceilings and centre roses, with fire rated mastic or fire rated linings applied above centre roses to seal penetrations. Ceilings were then top coated to meet the architectural colour requirements
  • Ornate ceilings were retained and finished to a high standard preserving the heritage significance of the building and meeting the fire rating requirements.
